Its time to lay the decrative pots to rest & grass grows (again and again and again)

Artist Bio 2014

Pedro Ramirez (b. 1984, Virginia) is a New York based artist whose work merges sculpture, ecosystems, and botany.  It considers the viewers relationship to examine the seductive gravity of nature.  The work expresses abundance through the use of earth-materials and teeming life, and highlights a precious commodity that is slipping away.  Often depicting living animals as well as plants, and taking cues from his background in ceramics, the work silently performs for the viewer.  The complexity of interpretation lies in the use of artist-made, non-traditional materials, and unconventional methodologies, which often involve organic materials and living creatures.   The work calls attention to the increasing boundaries between mankind and the environment and suggests there are spaces we can inhabit together.
